SDG riders were all over the podium this week at the Leogang, Austria round of the 2014 MTB World Cup. Troy Brosnan once again led the charge for SDG in 3rd place. Brook Macdonald was 4th, making his return to the World Cup podium after a long recovery from injury. Trek World Racing teammate George Brannigan rode to a fantastic 5th place finished and rounded out the podium.
For the ladies It was Emmeline Ragot in 4th place flying the SDG flag.
The track in Leogang is known as a bike park style track. A wide, groomed trail with lots of jumps are interspersed with a few technical sections as it winds it's way down the mountain. With high speeds, finishing times are always tight here and this year was no exception. Modifications to the upper section removed a few of the technical turns the track did have, and added in yet more jumps and pedalling, much to many riders dismay. Luckily, despite one heavy shower before qualifying, the weather cooperated and the sun stayed out all week.
There is now a mid summer's break in the World Cup tour and riders are heading home for a bit of training and relaxation before the series gets underway in about a month's time at the legendary track in Mont Ste Anne, Canada.
